National Signing Day for Seniors
Five Panthers signed their Letters of Intent on National Signing Day. The seniors continuing their football career at the collegiate level are: Ross Knight (Mary Hardin Baylor), Garrick Smitherman (Air Force), Michael Autwell (Louisiana-Monroe), Clint Mentzel (Montana State), and Alan Hale (Navarro College). Spring sports in full swing… baseball determines teams.
Softball started their season last week and baseball is right there with them. Over the next week or so, each of the teams will be whittled down to its main roster. So those on the bubble are trying to impress the coaches to make the cut.

Wow, that’s close! Based on an October 07 date, Midlothian High School had 2,059 students. The cutoff this year to be considered a 5A school district is 2,085 students. That’s only 26 students! But with redistricting, it presents a whole new set of challenges. Like taking on three Waco schools. Below is the lay of the land in UIL 4A for the entire state.
