Finally, a beautiful afternoon. The morning wasn’t bad, but just after lunch the sky’s cleared and the sun came out. And so did the Panthers. Another great outing with great ball movement and really impressive control of the game.

My daughter (Haley, 9) has shot a handful of events with me over the past few months, so today was a great opportunity for her to show her stuff. When looking at the photos of this game as well as the girls’ game, you’ll notice that halfway through the catalog the pictures seem to start back to the beginning of the game. All of those pics on the back end are Haley’s… so if you like them, let her know in “comments”.

Congrats to both teams this weekend!
Way to go girls! DeSoto was completely outmatched in this early season match. Although understaffed due to SATs and basketball commitments, I don’t know if it would have made any difference. The girls did a great job of moving the ball and kept the action on DeSoto’s side of the field practically the entire game.

I was checking out the weather page online and ran across these videos. Really cool stuff.

Midlo started strong with aggressive play in the paint and battled to a tie to send the game into overtime. Seguin jumped out early in OT which left the Panthers in catch-up mode and were unable to come back. Riley led the Panthers with 18, Caleb and Brett scored some tough points inside with 13 and 12 respectively.

Okay, I really had no idea what was going on with points, strategy, etc., but I could tell you when someone was on the bad end of a takedown. With all of the events and sports happening at the same time, it’s really hard to take it all in. I wanted to catch at least one of their matches this year to see what it’s all about… if you haven’t seen the team in action, go check them out.

Two words — cold and wet. In speaking with the parents, it’s a typical day at the office for the soccer team.
The JV guys had a slow start, but by midway through the first half, Midlo stayed in attack mode and never let up. Their ball handling was pretty impressive keeping Adamson spread out and opening breakaway opportunities.

Adamson’s varsity was a much more formidable opponent. Play was much tighter and aggressive. Midlo had about three times as many shots on goal but couldn’t find the net. Overall, solid play early in the season.

Due to expected bad weather on the 23rd, Coach Bennett has moved picture day to January 30. All team members should have received an order form. If you did not receive, please email and I can send to you.
